Chain mails have upgraded radically, citing conclusive resources this time. Or so to speak, attacking reason by presenting predictions which allegedly were real and came to happen. Ridiculous mails as "You will be kissed tonight", "Your mother will die if you do not forward this mail" and "Mars will be close to the earth and seen as big as the moon" were toppled over by the scary predictions stated more definitely than Nostradamus had.
Maybe Jucelino Nobrega da Luz is indeed an exceptional clairvoyant. He correctly predicted the 7/11 attacks, the 2007 tsunami in Thailand, the correct location of Saddam Hussein in Tikrit, Princess Diana's death and many others to enumerate. The chain mail sounded like it spoke of the apocalypse, scaring the readers out. Well, when we talk about death and end-of-the-world scenarios, it only is normal to be troubled and think about the sins we made, the life we do not want to leave, and the loved ones we do not want to lose. Who wants to die anyway.
However, his failed predictions were never mentioned in the mail. The September 2007 terrorist attack in Rome never happened nor August and October earthquakes that should have killed thousands of people in Turkey never occurred either. No tornado hit Rio de Janiero on October 19, 2007. But of course, these were not mentioned since they could have made lighter the weight of the scare if they were.
Basically, the letter was just for a scare. Unfortunately, there are Filipinos really who are frantically making a big deal out of the prediction. One person even told me that a science institute really had predicted the earthquake. How word of mouth spread, and I really feel sorry for those ignorants who fell prey to the prank. Earthquakes can never be predicted, not even the advanced technology of US or Japan!
What's more absurd is that the July 18 Earthquake in the Philippines was not even mentioned by da Luz! Perpetrators of chain mails have thought of better ways to cite a reference this time, using the Brazilian clairvoyant this time. This is an excerpt of da Luz's published predictions for the month of July:
60- Conflicts of homeless will mark in the south of Brazil and invasions and protests everywhere;
61- Strong Typhoons hit Japan resulting in big disruption and many deaths;
62- Australia is hit by a strong cyclone and there are many problems, leaving homeless;
63- Chile will be hit by a Earthquake of 6.9 in Richter scale and São Paulo feel the tremor;
64- Big floods hit France, Germany and Moldavia leaving thousands of homeless and deaths;
65- Increase the conflicts in Turkey and combats everywhere against the Kurds (next to Iraq);
66- Bombing kill more than 100 people in north of Iraq;
67- Revolt and conflicts in Algeria (Africa) mark blood in the country. An earthquake of 7.1 hit the capital;
68- Increase the consume in Japan of 4.2% and the economic speed up;
69- A small earthquake of 3.1 is observed in the region of the Amazon;
It just so happened that the perpetrators of the prank targeted Phlippines and Filipinos meanwhile are easy victims of scams anyway. The possibility that this hoax is made by a Filipino as well is not even low.

I am inclined to think that the stupid minds behind this hoax are anti-Dark Knight morons here in the country. Possibly competitors of its local distributor. :p
